The South Carolina Gamecocks are hard at work on the recruiting trail for both the class of 2027 and beyond. In addition to holding on to the eight verbal commits the class already has, the Gamecocks coaching staff is hard at work at adding to it.

Even if that means flipping players who are already committed to other schools, like three-star cornerback and Auburn verbal commit Aidyn Wiggins. Wiggins is one of the top-rated prospects out of the state of South Carolina, playing high school football out of Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C.

Wiggins committed to Auburn earlier this month a few days after he took an official visit to the Tigers on May 29. But that didn't stop the South Carolina coaching staff from offering the in-state prospect on Monday evening. The Gamecocks hosted the cornerback at Shane Beamer's football camp over the weekend. Wiggins confirmed the offer on his personal X account:

247Sports rates Wiggins as the No. 16 overall prospect out of his home state of South Carolina, and the No. 76 cornerback from the class of 2027. He runs track and field for his high school team as well, running the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes per his 247Sports page. He has several power-conference offers, including ones from Cincinnati, Clemson, LSU, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin to name a few.

The next step for South Carolina in pulling off the flip for Wiggins is likely getting him in Columbia for an official visit. He has visits scheduled later this month for LSU, Cincinnati and Virginia Tech, so the Gamecocks would be wise to get one on the books over the next few weeks.

Wiggins' addition to South Carolina's 2027 class would be a welcomed addition. The Gamecocks currently do not have a cornerback in its class, which ranks 64th overall in the country. We'll see if South Carolina can gain some more ground on the cornerback in the coming weeks.
