The bye week during the college football season can be used to do many things. It can be used to rest and heal for the final weeks of the season ahead, for players and coaches to get to spend more time with their families, and most of all, it can be used to focus on recruiting and that is exactly what head coach Shane Beamer is doing.
Coming off a big win over the Oklahoma Sooners for the first time in program history, Beamer is celebrating during his bye week by going out and using the momentum to build the future of South Carolina football.
Beamer has been seen visiting a number of high schools working on recruiting in the states of South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. Beamer posted to his X (formally known as Twitter) account that he was in the air on a Gamecocks plane flying from state to state getting USC fans excited for the future of the program.
The fourth-year head coach was also tagged in tweets from the Irmo High School football team in South Carolina, the Duluth High School football team with head coach Cam Jones, who is a South Carolina alum, and also tagged by DexPreps, an account that covers Alabama football recruiting. Ridge View High School, who is in Columbia, South Carolina also thanked Beamer for visiting the team.
Beamer went out and visited players who still have yet to commit and others who have already committed to either South Carolina or other programs. Beamer started by visiting four-star wide receiver Donovan Murph at Irmo High School, who recently reclassified to the Class of 2026. He then made the trip to Matoaca High School in Chesterfield, Virginia to check in on defensive tackle commit Caleb Williams.
Then Beamer hopped on the plane and headed to Duluth High School to see offensive tackle Damola Ajidahun, who is currently committed to Georgia Tech but obviously has yet to sign. Most recently, Beamer went to see linebacker Keenan Britt at Oxford High School in Alabama, who is a part of the Class of 2026.
No doubt Beamer will be back at practice soon next week, but taking the bye week to go out and work on the future of the football program is music to Gamecock fan's ears.
