In the world of college football, loyalty seems like a thing of the past, with guys transferring with every year of eligibility they have. South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer has a way of creating connections with each player who walks through his locker room, and this weekend, he will have a handful that will be playing their final game at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Beamer has been known to be a coach with a lot of emotion, and it is clear and obvious in every game on the sideline and even in the locker room. His celebration with the team after a big win or even how he wears his heart on his sleeve after a tough loss, Beamer clearly has big emotions.
Beamer has come out and said that knowing it is Senior Day this week, he has already shed a few tears for the guys leaving the program after this year and moving on to bigger and better things in life. This is Beamers fourth year at South Carolina, so some of the guys leaving have been with him through it all and bought in to everything the young head coach as to offer.
"This is Year 4 with me and in today's time, it's so easy to pack up, go somewhere else ... they all just doubled down, believed in what we are doing, this program, and said we want to leave this place a better place," Beamer said in his Tuesday press conference.
A lot of the players who came back for the senior season could have left and moved on or even transferred, but they chose to stay and stick it out with Beamer and it is paying off in dividends right now.
"I'm so happy for them that they're having the success in 2024 that they came back for, which is pretty cool," Beamer said.
South Carolina will recognize their Seniors before they take on Wofford on Saturday, November 23, and be prepared to see some tears not just from Beamer but from the players as well as they close out their careers on their home field.
