Shane Beamer is probably focusing solely on the upcoming game against Oklahoma this weekend, but he does have access to social media and can probably also see that fans are calling for his job. South Carolina is 3-3 so far this season, and they have a tough road ahead with at least three more ranked matchups.
Beamer has been struggling on the field, but off the field, he has been a recruiting machine, bringing in three four-star recruits one time within the span of two days. Now, he has the ability to hit another home run when it comes to recruiting, and it just might help his standing with the fans.
Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs just lost 5-star quarterback recruit Jared Curtis as he made the decision to de-commit from the program, one he committed to back in March of 2024. Since his de-commitment, there are six schools that are of high interest to Curtis, and South Carolina is one of them.
The Nashville native is the top quarterback recruit of the 2026 class and if Beamer could bring him into South Carolina, it would be one of his biggest recruitments as the Gamecocks head coach.
Curtis chose to de-commit from Georgia because he wanted to look at some other programs, and he said it didn't feel right to do so while still committed to Georgia. The young gunslinger has five other schools he is considering along with South Carolina, and they are Oregon, Southern Cal, Clemson, Ohio State, and Alabama.
Beamer has done well recruiting the Class of 2026 with three 3-star recruits and two 4-star recruits and currently has the six best recruiting classes of 2026, according to 247Sports.
Beamer is sitting on the hot seat as of late with three losses on the season, all to ranked opponents. Although he has been a great recruiter this season and in seasons past, fans want results on the field. If Beamer could bring Curtis into the program, however, that could be just enough to buy him another year with the Gamecocks.
