South Carolina Football Garnet and Black Spring Game Takeaways:
Special Teams Notes

Special teams was not fully live for the spring game, but there were some live elements. Projected starters and backups got some reps.

  • A bad snapper-holder exchange between Hunter Rogers and Mason Love caused Alex Herrera to miss a field goal attempt.
  • Kai Kroeger looked like he might be "back" after a less-than-stellar 2023 season.
  • Vicari Swain was back for punt returns but didn't get a real chance for a return. Ahmari Huggins-Bruce was another player who was back for punts.
  • Freshman Mason Love had a really nice punt.
  • Another high snap caused Peyton Argent to miss a kick, but it was waved off because of a timeout.
  • After the game's final touchdown, either the extra-point team or extra-point block team did not get everyone out onto the field in a timely manner, and Shane Beamer blew up (with a hot mic) on his coaching staff for not getting the players where they were supposed to be.
