South Carolina Football Garnet and Black Spring Game Takeaways:
Other Players Who Flashed

On offense, several Gamecocks (in addition to LaNorris Sellers) flashed with some good moments. Running back Djay Braswell looked much better than last year. Receivers Mazeo Bennett and Tyshawn Russell looked good. Josiah Thompson looked good in pass protection, and some of the interior of the two teams' lines (Vershon Lee, Torricelli Simpkins, and Kamaar Bell) was solid.

On the defensive side of the ball, the linebackers looked like an improved unit. Demetrius Knight, Bangally Kamara, and Bam Martin-Scott had some really good moments. Fellow EDGE Desmond Umeozulu looked improved, and defensive linemen Monkell Goodwine, Tonka Hemingway, TJ Sanders, and Boogie Huntley had good moments. Vicari Swain looked like a potential starter at corner.

Freshman EDGE Dylan Stewart might have been the best overall player on defense as he was disruptive almost every snap. He dominated with speed, destroyed blockers with bull rushes, and leveraged his length for some wins, as well.

Cornerback Vicari Swain had the best individual defensive play of the game when he snagged a one-handed interception of freshman Dante Reno. You can watch it here.

Walk-ons Larry Scott (running back), Maurice Brown (tight end), and Isaiah McClary (defensive back) made some nice plays.

Some more established players like defensive back Nick Emmanwori, linebacker Debo Williams, and tight end Josh Simon did their jobs well, but they didn't have many opportunities to do much.
