South Carolina football sophomore considered "overpowered" in EA Sports CFB25
By Kevin Miller
At long last, EA Sports College Football 25 has been released (at least for those who have early access). The torturous 11-year wait for a college football game is over, and fans have begun diving into the masterpiece with an enthusiasm only challenged by the fervor they save for Saturdays in the fall. One of the early takeaways from the game is that one member of the South Carolina football team is considered "overpowered."
According to On3 college football graphics guru Hayes Fawcett, Gamecock sophomore Nyck Harbor is the "most OP (overpowered) player in EA CFB 25."
A former 5-star athlete, Harbor is now a second-year receiver for the South Carolina football program, and his elite physical traits explain why he could be unfair to use in the game.
Standing 6'5" and weighing 240 pounds, Harbor qualified for the Olympic Trials this year in the 200-meter sprint, and his in-game speed and acceleration ratings (99 each) are indicative of this. His elite athleticism translates to his leaping ability, as well, and he was given a 98 rating as a jumper. Thanks to his freakish size, he has the highest strength rating of any receiver in the game (79). Simply put, Harbor is a video game superhero who is sure to make many virtual South Carolina football fans extremely happy as they play the new game.
Harbor is hoping to take a big step forward this fall. He had modest production in 2023 (just 12 catches for 195 yards and 1 touchdown), but he showed flashes of what he could become with a nice touchdown grab against Furman, a long 50-50 win against Florida, and solid game against Texas A&M.
The big #8 is one of just two big-bodied wideouts on the team (along with Nevada Wolfpack transfer Dalevon Campbell), so opportunities for reps on the outside of the Carolina offense should be plentiful for Harbor. Last season was his first playing wide receiver, and he elected to skip the Olympic Trials to spend more time with the South Carolina football team this summer, so an on-field leap feels probable for Harbor.
