South Carolina Football: Gamecock target moves to 4-star status in another recruiting ranking
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his Gamecock coaching staff are targeting a long list of talented players on the offensive line in the 2025 recruiting cycle. All of them have impressive offer lists loaded with the names of big-time programs, but USC hopes to win their fair share of the recruiting battles.
Of these big offensive linemen, one of the biggest risers in the recent recruiting rankings is in-state prospect Shed Sarratt. The Gaffney native recently was bumped up to a 4-star ranking by On3, and on Thursday, the Palmetto State prospect found himself named a 4-star recruit by 247Sports, as well.
Sarratt's rise through the recruiting rankings is well deserved. The 6'4", 300-pound lineman has a lot of potential with his size and athletic ability. He has played tackle for much of his high school career, but there is a lot of belief that he could be an interior lineman at the next level.
A strong and high-effort blocker, Sarratt has been really good in the run game during his prep career, and he has shown the ability to work well in space as a pulling blocker or as a player who can move up to the second and third level to lead the way.
As a pass blocker, Sarratt relies on strength and athleticism, so once he has some time under collegiate coaching, he will have a chance to reach his full potential as a protector of quarterbacks.
Set to make his college decision on June 14th (his grandmother's birthday), Sarratt is viewed by most in the recruiting industry to be a "lean" to the home state South Carolina football program. The NC State Wolfpack, Florida State Seminoles, Tennessee Volunteers, Colorado Buffaloes, and Florida Gators are the other schools that made his top-6 list last week.
