The 2023 Senior Bowl has been chock full of news updates on South Carolina football star quarterback Spencer Rattler. As has been no surprise to Gamecock fans, Rattler has been incredible in Mobile, and the scouts and other NFL personnel in attendance in Mobile have been thoroughly impressed with the Carolina graduate.

Both in practice and in interviews, Rattler has delivered, and rave reviews have come out about the former Gamecock starter. Phrases like "best performance," "great maturity," "can really spin it," and "draft stock rising" have been used to describe what has been seen from #7 (wearing #2 at the Senior Bowl) at college football's premier all-star showcase.

For reasons that don't really make a lot of sense, Rattler was projected by some to wind up as a late-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but those who have paid attention have viewed him higher. The clinic he has put on in Mobile now has many believing that Spencer Rattler is moving up NFL teams' draft boards.

The respect hasn't just been from those in the world of professional football, however. On Friday, according to Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy,Spencer Rattler was named the quarterback MVP for the American Team by his defensive teammates. In other words, the guys who Rattler has been slicing up the last three days at practice voted him as the best quarterback of the group, ahead of names like Michael Pratt (Tulane), Joe Milton (Tennessee), and Bradley Carter (South Alabama).

He has also been mentioned as performing better than big-name quarterbacks like Michael Penix (Washington) and Bo Nix (Oregon).

Wide receiver Xavier Legette has performed well in his Senior Day workouts and practices, but his status for Saturday's game is unclear as he has battled an ankle injury and was wearing a calf sleeve even prior to tweaking the ankle.

The 2023 Senior Bowl will be broadcast on NFL Network and will play at 1:00 EST on Saturday.
