South Carolina football fans had hoped that they would be in for a Christmas present as talented class of 2026 athlete Jamarrion Gordon was planning to announce his college choice on Christmas Day. The wide receiver/defensive back had announced a top-4 of South Carolina, LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn.

That announcement won't be coming, at least not yet.

This weekend, Phil Kornblut of SportsTalk reported that the Jackson, Alabama athlete will not be making a college decision this holiday season as he needs more time.

As a player, Jamarrion Gordon is not yet rated as only the top-100 players are rated by 247Sports and Rivals and only the top-78 are rated by On3. However, he will crack the ratings in the not-too-distant future as he boasts a very nice offer list and has some impressive tape.

As most big-time athletes do, Gordon plays both ways for his Jackson High School squad.

As a wide receiver, he is explosive and has enough speed to take the top off of the defense. He is not an overly big wideout (6'0" tall and 180 pounds), but he plays bigger with his ability to leap over defenders and high-point the football.

On the defensive side of the ball, Gordon shows elite potential as a cover corner, staying in receivers' hip pockets and shadowing their every move. His long arms and natural athletic ability allow him to separate pass-catchers from the football at a level better than most high school sophomores.

Gordon is a high school teammate of current South Carolina football commitment Landon Duckworth, who is rated as a 4-star, top-100 player in the class of 2026. Both players will have two more years of high school football, but South Carolina football fans hope that Gordon will be joining Duckworth in garnet and black when his high school career is over.
