South Carolina football fans were not happy with the 2023 season.

After big expectations heading into the year, an unfortunate combination of injuries, poor play, and inconsistent coaching doomed the Gamecocks to a 2-6 start and 5-7 final record. It was the first losing season of the Shane Beamer era in Columbia, but according to one major betting outlet, it won't be the last.

FanDuel released its official offseason over/unders for the SEC's 16 teams (yes, 2024 will be the first season in which Texas and Oklahoma are part of the conference). The over/under betting win totals were not kind to the Gamecocks.

South Carolina football's over/under sits at 5.5 wins at this juncture, and if the number is accurate (especially if the under hits), Gamecock fans might riot. After the poor showing in 2023 and the coaching changes this offseason (lots of changes but not all the ones the fans wanted), Shane Beamer's honeymoon phase is over in Columbia, so a losing season could spell disaster.

You can check out the entire list of over/unders below (all totals are regular season wins only):

Texas Longhorns: 10.5 wins

Georgia Bulldogs: 10.5 wins

Ole Miss Rebels: 9.5 wins

LSU Tigers: 9.5 wins

Missouri Tigers: 9.5 wins

Alabama Crimson Tide: 9.5 wins

Tennessee Volunteers: 8.5 wins

Texas A&M Aggies: 8.5 wins

Auburn Tigers: 7.5 wins

Oklahoma Sooners: 7.5 wins

Kentucky Wildcats: 6.5 wins

Florida Gators: 5.5 wins

Arkansas Razorbacks: 5.5 wins

South Carolina Gamecocks: 5.5 wins

Mississippi State Bulldogs: 4.5 wins

Vanderbilt Commodores: 2.5 wins

The good news for Gamecock fans is that the players wearing garnet and black this season are more than talented enough to get back to a bowl game and relevancy in the SEC. Strong recruiting (both from the high school ranks and from the transfer portal) will complement a team that has a lot of returners, even if some of the most famous names are gone.

South Carolina football will look to prove the doubters wrong starting on August 31st in Williams-Brice Stadium against Old Dominion.
