Gamecock Santa's Nice List, The Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma and Texas are officially joining the SEC for the 2024 college football season, and all of the "old teams" in the SEC will play one of the new additions. The Gamecocks drew the Oklahoma Sooners and will travel to Norman for the first-ever matchup between the garnet and black and the crimson and cream.
Oklahoma is a perennial power that had its first losing season since the '90s last year in 2022, but the Sooners rebounded with a nice showing in 2023. The 2024 version of the team looks a little more beatable, but a road game for the Gamecocks will make finding a victory difficult.
However, there is no beef between the two programs (though Spencer Rattler might feel differently), and head coach Shane Beamer's most recent assistant coaching stop was in Norman, Oklahoma.
As long as a Sooner fan doesn't try to claim that their Schooner (quite literally an 1800s mobile home) is cooler than a Cockaboose, Carolina fans shouldn't have any issue with Oklahoma making Gamecock Santa's nice list, though, that is subject to change based on this year's game.
