South Carolina football fans have a lot of reasons to think that the future is bright at the quarterback position.
Though the Gamecocks need to add a veteran through the transfer portal to bring some depth to the quarterback room, redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers is as talented of a dual-threat quarterback to ever come through the program, and true freshman Dante Reno was a 4-star prospect. Class of 2026 commitment Landon Duckworth is a 4-star prospect with a lot of ability as a dual-threat, as well. There's also a lot of optimism surrounding the recruitment of '25 4-star Ryan Montgomery.
Even with Duckworth committed in the '26 cycle, the Gamecocks aren't done recruiting that class. Elite prospect Jared Curtis put South Carolina football in his top-10 back in the fall, and today, he is on campus in Columbia according to a report from 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong.
Curtis is the 2nd-rated quarterback (and player) in the 2026 class in 247Sports' rankings and is rated as a 4-star by all three recruiting services that have already started evaluating the class (no 5-stars have been named yet).
The Nashville Christian School product is a big-time talent. Though he's played just two years of high school football, he has already been an All-State player and a Mr. Football finalist in Tennessee.
He has a strong arm and a really quick release, and he is a better athlete than one might expect. Curtis is not a runner, necessarily, but he has enough juice as a scrambler to buy time for receivers to get open or to earn first downs with his legs. He also is a tough and strong runner when he takes off.
Curtis' future is at quarterback, but he also plays some as a linebacker for Nashville Christian, demonstrating his athleticism and toughness.
