South Carolina Football: In-state speedster adds scholarship offers, sets Gamecock official visit
By Kevin Miller
South Carolina football already has one wide receiver committed in the class of 2025 (Jayden Sellers, the younger brother of Gamecock quarterback LaNorris Sellers), but with the amount of turnover expected at the position over the next two seasons (7 receivers who are juniors or seniors), new wide receivers coach James Coley will be busy recruiting replacements.
One target who the Gamecock coaching staff is hoping will join Sellers in the fold is in-state receiver Malik Clark. The Rock Hill native announced on social media that he will be taking his official visit to check out the South Carolina football program starting on May 31st.
Clark, a Rock Hill High School product, is currently unranked by the recruiting industry, but he has solid film and a frame (6'3" and 180 pounds) that profiles nicely with his good speed.
Clark has been clocked running a 4.5 40-yard dash (laser-timed), but he is a smooth runner who catches defenders off-guard with how fast he is actually moving. He doesn't look that quick or even that fast on film, but he leaves everyone else on the field in his dust despite playing some high-level competition in the Rock Hill area.
Clark is comfortable running short patterns, but he has done most of his damage in the high school game going over the top of the defense. Seemingly every play, he is behind the secondary in no time at all. He also has gotten the ball on handoffs and can handle himself operating in traffic.
Clark's recruitment has somewhat blown up in recent months as his offer list has expanded to 25 teams. North Carolina and Virginia Tech are some of the bigger offers that he has, and the talented wideout has already planned his official visit to check out the Tar Heels, as well.
