South Carolina basketball Coach Lamont Paris is currently working to bring in two more players to the Gamecock program this offseason through the transfer portal. With recent commitments from elite high school wing prospect Cam Scott and transfer 7-footer Jordan Butler, USC has a clearer picture of what they are looking for with those last two scholarship spots.

A starting caliber point guard and a heavy minutes, athletic center appear to be the two needs for the team, and in recent days, Carolina's top targets have emerged.

Point guard Jhamir Brickus (La Salle Explorers) and center Nick Pringle (Alabama Crimson Tide) have both visited Columbia in the past couple of days and are very interested in joining Paris and the Gamecocks.

However, Paris has had multiple irons in the transfer portal fire as other players also have been part of the Gamecocks' recruiting efforts this spring. One of those targets, though, took himself off the board by announcing his college choice on Saturday.

Combo guard Dakota Leffew (Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers) is on his way to becoming a member of the Georgia Bulldogs basketball program, according to a report from On3's Joe Tipton. With a transfer portal recruitment that seemed to come down to the South Carolina Gamecocks, Syracuse Orange, and Georgia Bulldogs, Leffew elected to return to his home state of Georgia for his final year of college eligibility.

The fact that Leffew is not a Gamecock is not all that surprising, but with numerous reports in recent days indicating he was on his way to Syracuse, his decision to join the SEC rival Bulldogs was not fully expected.

Lamont Paris still has plenty of other options to consider in the portal, though Brickus and Pringle seem to be the top names to watch in the immediate.
