South Carolina basketball fans have been eyeing Alabama transfer big man Nick Pringle since he entered the transfer portal last week. The South Carolina native was the starting center for the Crimson Tide team that made the Final Four this season.

Pringle would be a really nice fit for the Gamecocks. After losing three post players from last year's roster in stretch-big BJ Mack (graduation), reserve Stephen Clark (graduation), and interior mauler Josh Gray (transfer portal), Lamont Paris' team already added a shot-blocking stretch-big in Jordan Butler (Missouri) and a versatile high school forward in Okku Federiko. Now, a big man who can play solid defense against big, athletic centers is the target, and Pringle fits the bill.

According to The State reporter Jordan Kaye, the Gamecocks are taking the next step in their quest to woo Pringle to Columbia by getting him on campus this weekend for a visit.

The 6'10" big man from Seabrook, South Carolina will be checking out the South Carolina basketball program this weekend, and fans of the Gamecocks are desperately hoping that the visit is enough for the athletic Pringle to pull the trigger on a commitment to the 2024-2025 version of the Fighting Q-Zips.

Pringle's visit could overlap some with transfer portal point guard Jhamir Brickus' visit. Brickus is heavily considering the Gamecocks, as well, and his ability to score and distribute on the perimeter makes him a priority target for a team that lost both Ta'Lon Cooper (graduation) and Meechie Johnson (transfer portal).

Brickus is considered by On3's transfer portal recruiting prediction machine to be favoring the Gamecocks, and Lamont Paris and his staff are hoping that this weekend can put the final touches on his recruitment and make serious in-roads with Pringle, as well.

As a player, Pringle does not light up the box score, but he is a strong, aggressive athlete who plays hard near the rim on both ends of the court. His size and athleticism will allow him to play against different types of centers and, if he chooses the Gamecocks, it would afford Coach Paris the flexibility of playing him next to Collin Murray-Boyles or Jordan Butler.
