The United States Basketball Women's National Team won again on Wednesday as they defeated Nigeria by a score of 88-74. Leading the way as she seems always to do, South Carolina basketball alum A'ja Wilson was dominant and the best player on the floor, further proving herself to be the world's top women's basketball star.
The Gamecock legend led all players in the quarterfinal game in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, and field goal percentage. Wilson put up an impressive stat line of 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 assists while shooting an efficient 9-11 from the field and a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line.

There was nothing the Nigerian team could do to slow down Wilson as she led her Team USA squad to another win. The victory pushes the Americans to a semifinal contest berth where they will face off with the Australian national team at 11:30 AM ET on Friday, August 9th. The other semifinal game will be played afterward at 3:00 PM ET as the national teams from France and Belgium will fight for a spot in the gold medal game. The winners of each game will face off, with the winner earning the gold and the loser bringing home the silver. The two losers will play in a bronze medal 3rd-place game.
The United States has won 7-straight gold medals and, as the world's #1-ranked team, is considered the favorite to win their 8th gold in a row. However, Australia is a very good opponent (ranked 3rd in the world), and both France and Belgium (ranked 7th and 6th, respectively) are capable of knocking off the USA if they do not play their best.
Fans can watch the games on the USA Network or stream them on the Peacock app.
