South Carolina basketball star Raven Johnson had quite the "revenge tour" in the 2023-2024 season. A year after facing the toughest moment of her basketball life, the All-SEC point guard put the clamps on #1 overall WNBA Draft pick Caitlin Clark and led her team to another National Championship.

Johnson has at least one more year in garnet and black (she had a medical redshirt in the 2021-2022 campaign, meaning she could play two more years if she desires), and after a stellar showing as a redshirt sophomore, South Carolina basketball fans can't wait to see the heights she and her Gamecock teammates can reach next season.

During the offseason, Johnson has received a lot of praise for her perseverance and her on-court improvements, and she has deserved every bit of love she has gotten. One recent accolade, though, has to be extra special for the Gamecock guard.

On Monday, Raven Johnson had her #25 jersey retired at West Lake High School (Atlanta, Georgia) in a ceremony in her high school gym.

Johnson was a top-5 national prospect coming out of West Lake in the class of 2021, and she was ranked as the top point guard in the class. While she put up good stats, just like with the South Carolina basketball team, her impact goes far beyond the box score as she is, simply, a winning player. While in high school, she led West Lake to four straight Georgia 7A state championships and a Geico National Championship as a senior.

Johnson's honor comes in as the first of two high school jersey retirements for a current Gamecock as forward Sania Feagin is set to receive the honor at Forest Park High School later this month.

Johnson and the Gamecocks still have about six months before their season begins with a game against an unnamed opponent in Las Vegas.
