South Carolina baseball is struggling. With four series losses in five series against teams from power conferences, the Gamecocks have fallen to 6-6 in SEC play, and last week was one of the low points of the season.

South Carolina got straight-up embarrassed in an 8-0 shutout at the hands of Georgia Southern in the mid-week, and then they got smacked in the first two games of the home series against the Texas A&M Aggies on Friday and Saturday. A Sunday win "salvaged" a little something from the weekend and kept the week from being a complete disaster.

The Gamecocks, as expected, took a big drop in the national polls.

Mark Kingston's team fell all the way out of the D1Baseball rankings after slotting in at #22 last week.

Perfect Game also removed the Gamecocks from their top-25, but USC was ranked lowest by the outlet last week anyway (23).

The highest ranking for South Carolina baseball last week came from Baseball America, and this week, the YardCocks are just hanging on to their top-25 ranking, coming in at #25.

USA Today dumped the Gamecocks, too, kicking them out of their 19th spot.

After being 20th in the NCBWA (National College Baseball Writers Association) rankings a week ago, Carolina is also out of their top-25.

College Baseball Central has the distinction of being highest on Mark Kingston's club this week, ranking the Gamecocks 21st in the country, down four spots from 17 in the previous poll.

The road isn't any easier for Mark Kingston and his South Carolina baseball team this week as the North Carolina Tar Heels await the Gamecocks in Charlotte during the mid-week, and the Florida Gators will welcome USC to Gainesville for a 3-game set over the weekend.

The Gamecocks also announced on Tuesday that the rained-out matchup with the rival Clemson Tigers will not be made up this season.
