South Carolina baseball has lost four of their five series against teams from power programs this season. In SEC play, they couldn't pull off series wins over Texas A&M, Alabama, or Ole Miss, but the series losses began with the rivalry series against the Clemson Tigers.

The Gamecocks fell to the Tigers 5-4 in a Saturday afternoon contest at neutral-site Segra Park and lost by the same score in a Sunday series finale at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson. However, the Friday night series opener at Founders Park was rained out and was originally labeled as "postponed."

The game is no longer postponed.

On Tuesday, the University of South Carolina Athletics Department released a statement that said that the third game of the rivalry series "will not be made up." South Carolina and Clemson, in separate statements, both said that a mutually beneficial date could not be found based on the baseball and academic schedules that remain for the two teams.

Because of the cancelation, the Gamecocks officially have been swept by the rival Clemson Tigers. Despite the tough season up to this point, that is the only sweep the Gamecocks have suffered this season.

Mark Kingston's South Carolina baseball team are hoping to bounce back to form with another rivalry game in the mid-week. The Gamecocks will make the short bus ride up to Charlotte to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels at Truist Field. After the tough test, Carolina will face off with another reeling SEC program when they travel down to Gainesville, Florida to play the Florida Gators.

The game against North Carolina will be played on Tuesday at 7:00 PM EST and will be broadcast on the ACC Network. The weekend series will begin on Friday at 6:30 PM EST and will be shown on the SEC Network+. Game 2 on Saturday will start at 4:00 PM EST and will also be on the SEC Network+. The finale on Sunday's first pitch is at 12:00 PM EST and will be featured on the SEC Network.
