Pair of South Carolina basketball alums reach same statistical milestone in same game

South Carolina basketball fans who tuned in on Wednesday to watch some former Gamecocks in the WNBA were treated to a great game and a little bit of history for two players from their favorite college basketball program.
The Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun matched up on the hardwood, and four former Dawn Staley disciples were involved in the game (though, guard Tiffany Mitchell didn't see the court for the Sun due to illness, and forward Victaria Saxton didn't play for the Fever).
In what became a tight win for the Fever, power forward/center Aliyah Boston and guard Ty Harris each scored their 1000th career points.
Boston, who finished the game with a box score-stuffing stat line of 10 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals, reached the milestone with a jump shot in the 2nd quarter. She also dished out 5 dimes in the 1st quarter of the game as she went on to tie her career-high of 8 assists.
In addition to playing great perimeter defense and having a highlight reel-worthy fast break bucket, Ty Harris also reached her 1000-point milestone in the 1st half of this game. Harris finished with 9 points and 4 assists in just 20 minutes of game action.
Caitlin Clark, Boston's teammate on the Indiana Fever, set a couple of records, as well, as she broke the WNBA's all-time rookie record for 3-pointers made and became the first WNBA player ever to score 500 points, dish out 250 assists, and make 75 3-pointers in a season.
In other WNBA action on Wednesday evening, former South Carolina basketball star center Kamilla Cardoso had another double-double for the Chicago Sky as she logged 10 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 blocks, and guard Allisha Gray scored 22 points for her Atlanta Dream squad.
