Examining the heights, weights, and jersey numbers on the updated South Carolina basketball roster
By Kevin Miller
A few weeks ago, South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris finalized his 2024-2025 roster by putting walk-on guard Austin Herro on scholarship. Herro joined incoming freshmen Cam Scott (4-star wing) and Okku Federiko (4-star forward) and transfer portal players Nick Pringle (Alabama Crimson Tide), Jordan Butler (Missouri Tigers), and Jamarii Thomas (Norfolk State Spartans) as the new scholarship players on the team.
The Gamecocks also added two new walk-ons to the team. Eli Sparkman and Danny Grajzl are no longer listed on the Gamecock roster, but 6'5" wing Lance Piper and 6'2" shooting guard Weston Coggenshall joined the team in their place.
In recent days, the updated South Carolina basketball roster was posted on Gamecocksonline.com, and there are some numbers worth checking out for USC fans. Some heights, weights, and jersey numbers have changed.
The entire 2024-2025 roster is listed below, along with players' sizes, listed positions, eligibility, and numbers*:
#0 Jordan Butler, Sophomore Forward; 7'0", 240 pounds
#1 Jacobi Wright, Senior Guard; 6'2", 185 pounds
#2 Zach Davis, Junior Guard; 6'7", 200 pounds
#4 Weston Coggeshall, Freshman Guard; 6'2", 175 pounds
#5 Nick Pringle, Senior Forward; 6'10", 220 pounds
#6 Jamarii Thomas, Senior Guard; 5'10", 185 pounds
#10 Myles Stute, Senior Guard; 6'6", 210 pounds
#13 Austin Herro, Redshirt Freshman Guard; 6'1", 180 pounds
#14 Lance Piper, Freshman Guard; 6'5", 180 pounds
#15 Morris Ugusuk, Sophomore Guard; 6'4", 170 pounds
#21 Arden Conyers, Redshirt Freshman Guard; 6'7", 210 pounds
#23 Cam Scott, Freshman Guard; 6'6", 170 pounds
#30 Collin Murray-Boyles, Sophomore Forward; 6'7", 240 pounds
#31 Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk, Senior Forward; 6'9", 240 pounds
#33 Okku Federiko, Freshman Forward; 6'10", 210 pounds
*It is important to note that player positions are only listed as "G" (guard) or "F" (forward). Wing players (even small forwards) are listed as guards, while centers are listed as forwards.
Some numbers that stick out:
- Zach Davis has switched from #12 to #2; he also has gained some muscle to get to 200 pounds.
- Nick Pringle is a legitimate 6'10" center, something the Gamecocks only had when Josh Gray was on the court last year.
- Jamarii Thomas is a significantly smaller (5'10" and 185 pounds) point guard than Ta'Lon Cooper; how might that change the game plan for the 2024-2025 version of the Gamecocks?
- Morris Ugusuk, Arden Conyers, and Lance Piper all have gained some weight so that they can hold up better physically. Conyers, in particular, is up to 210 pounds.
- Cam Scott is 6'6" but thin at 170 pounds. How might the additional length add in his versatility, but how might the lack of mass affect his ability to hold up on defense?
- Collin Murray-Boyles is a brick house. Now up 240 pounds, he should be even stronger down low this season.
- Okku Federiko is both taller and heavier than most of his recruiting profiles indicated. Typically listed at 6'8" or 6'9", he is 6'10" on the official roster. He also is 210 pounds, a much better weight than the 180 pounds some recruiting services believed him to be.
