South Carolina basketball legend A'ja Wilson, unsurprisingly, was named the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Month.

South Carolina basketball fans who have followed A'ja Wilson's professional career know that the Columbia native is the best women's basketball player in the world. Somehow, though, the top performer in the entire WNBA has taken her game to another level in 2024 as she is the runaway favorite to win her third MVP award this season.

Wilson is averaging 27 points, 11 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.5 blocks, and 1.9 steals per game so far during the 2024 season, and she has been remarkably efficient despite her heavy workload, shooting 51.7% from the field, 38.1% from the 3-point line, and 84.7% from the free throw line while turning the ball over just 1.6 times per game and fouling just 2.2 times. She is the best offensive player and defensive player in the WNBA right now.

With her strong play to start the season, Wilson won the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Month Award for the month of May, and on Tuesday, it was announced that she was receiving the honor again for June.

Wilson, who was chosen for her sixth All-Star Game on Tuesday, was beyond deserving of the award as she became the first WNBA star ever to average 25 points and 10 rebounds in two months of the same season. She also led the entire league in points, rebounds, blocks, and PER in June and is 1st in the league in scoring,1st in blocked shots, 1st in PER, 2nd in rebounding, and 5th in steals on the season.

The Conference Player of the Month selection is A'ja Wilson's 10th of her career. She trails Tina Charles' all-time record of 12 by just two selections, and since she is just 27 years old, there is no reason to suspect that Wilson won't reach that record.**

**It is worth noting that the WNBA Conference Player of the Month Award didn't start until 2010.
