5-star South Carolina basketball freshman leads Team USA in scoring again

Team USA has had their U18 team in Colombia, South America for close to a week to participate in the AmeriCup. There has not been much suspense about the United States' games as they have dominated their way through group play with lopsided wins over Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.

On Friday, the Americans continued their buzzsaw-like run into the elimination stages of the AmeriCup tournament with another big win.

In a matchup with the Dominican Republic, Edwards and the US scored 125 points while holding the Dominican team to just 27 total points, including keeping them to single-digit scoring in every quarter of play. For the third game in a row, America scored more points in the 1st period than their opponent did for the entire game.

In the game, Edwards led Team USA in scoring for the third straight time, pouring in 14 points in less than 14 minutes of action on the court. The team captain also played solid defense and added 3 rebounds and an assist while shooting an extremely efficient 70% from the field.

South Carolina basketball 2025 target Jazzy Davidson scored 11 points, pulled down 3 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, blocked 2 shots, and managed to get 2 steals.

Team USA will play again on Saturday against the U18 team from Argentina. The game will be the semifinals of the tournament and will tip at 6:40 PM ET and is available (free of charge) for streaming on the FIBA YouTube channel.

The winner of the USA-Argentina contest will face off on Sunday against the winner of Canada-Brazil. Canada, like Team USA, is undefeated so far in the AmeriCup competition. The United States beat Brazil 97-51 on Tuesday in their closest game of the tournament.
