After Saturday's ugly performance against the Old Dominion Monarchs, South Carolina football fans have had reactions all over the fandom spectrum.
There have been groups of Gamecock supporters who have overreacted quite a bit, calling for all the coaches to be fired, all the players to be benched, and for the University of South Carolina to cancel its football program forever.
There have been others who haven't seemed concerned at all despite all the struggles on the field on Saturday. Claims of "it's just one game" or hopeful thoughts like "maybe Old Dominion is pretty good" have echoed throughout certain corners of the Gamecock nation.
The reality, as is true in most cases, is somewhere in the middle.
There are lots of reasons for fans to be worried about what they witnessed happen at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, but there are also plenty of things to consider that should make the garnet and black-clad Gamecock faithful take a few deep breaths and keep some optimism about the rest of the 2024 football season.
