No team is happier to be in November than South Carolina under Shane Beamer
The month of November is known as one of the most important months of the college football season. This is the point of the season when teams need to be hitting their stride and playing at the top of their game at just the right time. This is also the time for teams that are still in contention have to buckle down in each game to get the win or else they won't be seeing the playoff this season.
For teams that are out of contention, like South Carolina, it is all about finishing the season strong and getting a good bowl game selection. The good news for the Gamecocks is that the month of November is when they have historically played their best games under Shane Beamer. So far this season, the Gamecocks are 4-3, with all three of their losses coming at the hands of ranked opponents.
In his first three seasons, South Carolina is 8-4 in the month of November, which seems to be their best month of the season compared to 9-8 in September and 5-8 in October. This shows that no matter how the season starts, the Gamecocks prioritize getting better as the season goes on and want to finish the season as strong as possible.
"I tell the players every year that it would be a shame if we’re the same team in September that we are in November," Beamer said in his Tuesday press conference.
The team is focusing on their impressive record under Beamer in November, though; all they are focusing on is going 1-0 each week. The Gamecocks have a tough week ahead of them, taking on No. 10 Texas A&M this weekend in Columbia for Homecoming weekend.
While the Gamecocks have a great record in the month of November, they have the odds working against them with their record against the Aggies. South Carolina is just 1-9 against Texas A&M, with their only win coming back in 2022 in Beamer's second season. The Gamecocks won the exciting matchup 30-24 in Columbia towards the end of October.
This will be just the 12th meeting between the Gamecocks and the Aggies since Texas A&M joined the SEC in 2012. South Carolina will hope to get their second win against the Aggies and add their impressive November record under Beamer.
