Meechie Johnson is back! And no, this isn't an April Fool's joke!

Meechie Johnson is coming back to South Carolina for his final year of eligibility! the former Gamecocks is rejoining Lamont Paris' roster after a year at Ohio State, bringing the scoring, leadership, and excitement back to the sidelines.

He's back! And Gamecock Nation is rejoicing!

Meechie Johnson, South Carolina's electric and fearless scoring machine from 2022 to 2024, is officially returning to Columbia for his final year of eligibility. A year after transferring back to Ohio State, Johnson is flipping the script again and coming home to the Gamecocks.

For weeks now, rumors of have swirled about him coming back. And the timing could not be more perfect. With the NCAA ruling that the 2024-25 season won't count against his eligibility, Johnson will get his full fifth year to suit up in the garnet and black.

In his two previous seasons at South Carolina, he averaged 13.4 points per game, starting 62 of 63 games. In his last year, he led the Gamecocks with 14.1 points per game, dropping more than 20 points in ten games and helped propel South Carolina to an incredible 26-win season and an NCAA Tournament berth.

After a season of struggles, the Gamecocks need Meechie! He is the perfect fit for what head coach Lamont Paris is building at South Carolina, especially considering he knows the playbook, is familiar with the team and coaches, and the fans already adore him.

Combined with two other transfers Treysen Eaglestaff and Christ Essandoko, as well a couple of other spots still open on the roster, the Gamecocks are reloading for next season.
