The South Carolina Gamecocks are set to begin fall camp in exactly 1 week. Following a 4-8 season, sixth-year head coach Shane Beamer is eager to turn the page towards the 2026 season.
The Gamecocks are scheduled to start fall camp in exactly one week, with a start date of Thursday, Aug. 6. One of the biggest question marks has been the injury status of offensive tackle Jacarrius Peak and Dylan Stewart. Both guys missed spring practice due to injuries.
On Thursday, Coach Beamer once again updated the status of both players at a media availability.
“I know you’ll ask about injuries; really nothing new from last week,” Beamer said via Gamecock Central. “You’ll ask about Peak and Dylan Stewart, same as what I told you last week. They’re progressing nicely. They both had doctor’s appointments this week, and everything was positive coming out of those reports. They’re trending in the right direction and eager to get back out there and get on the field, and I know they will be really, really soon.”
Peak suffered a knee injury in February after a pickup basketball game, and has been sidelined ever since. Stewart’s injury stems from last season, as the Gamecocks star EDGE rusher played through a back injury for most of the year.
The injury status of both guys sound similar to what Coach Beamer had to say about them during last week’s SEC Media Days. He stated that Peak’s knew is healthy enough that he is running at full speed, and that both him and Stewart are “on track.” He also stated that he hopes both guys will be ready to rock and roll come August.

Having both guys healthy and full go during the 2026 season is critical for South Carolina’s success this season. Peak was one of the biggest players Coach Beamer landed in the transfer portal this offseason, coming over from NC State via the transfer portal. He gave up just seven sacks over his three seasons with the Wolfpack, and was named an All-ACC tackle last year. He will be critical in pass-protection for returning star quarterback LaNorris Sellers, as well as for new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles to run his scheme effectively, as well.
Stewart is projected to be a Top-10 NFL draft pick next season. Across his first two seasons with the Gamecocks, he has accounted for 56 total tackles with 11 sacks and six forced fumbles.
While Beamer’s comments certainly sound encouraging, South Carolina fans can feel more at ease when both guys are fully cleared and back on the field. The Gamecocks will be in fall camp for a little over a month before South Carolina's Sept. 5 home opener against Kent State.
