As the calendar flips from July to August, it's a busy time for the South Carolina Gamecocks football program. Not only is head coach Shane Beamer getting his team ready for fall camp next month, but the fall is a huge recruiting season for both the 2027 and 2028 classes.

This week, four-star offensive tackle Ty Winn, who is from the class of 2028, announced he has nailed down a visit with the Gamecocks this fall. Winn will be in Columbia the weekend of Nov. 21, when South Carolina hosts the Georgia Bulldogs. Winn, who is from Drexel Hill, Pa., is rated by 247Sports as the nation's No. 26 overall offensive tackle in his class. He is also the No. 8 overall player from his home state of Pennsylvania.

Winn will also take visits this fall to Florida State, Georgia Tech, Penn State and Virginia Tech. The big-time offensive tackle holds offers from several power-conference schools like Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.

Home South Carolina football games provide an opportunity for the Gamecocks coaching staff to host big-time prospects. That way, players can truly see what the game day experience is like to get what being a Gamecock is truly like. The Georgia game should be one of the best atmospheres Winn can see in person. The Dawgs are the favorites to win the SEC this season, and South Carolina can make a statement with an upset victory at home.

Georgia leads the all-time series 55-2-19, and the Bulldogs have also won eight of the last 10 games dating back to 2014. Georgia has also won the last four straight meetings from 2020-2024.

It's obviously early in the cycle for the 2028 recruiting class, but it's a great sign that Winn has a visit with South Carolina officially on the books. And even better that he gets to go to one of the loudest home crowds at Williams-Brice all season.

South Carolina's 2028 class has just two members currently, in wide receiver Jhamari Cain and receiver Joseph Gibbs. It ranks eighth in the country per 247Sports.
