With the college football so close now, of course, it makes sense to start looking at 2026 NFL mock drafts. South Carolina fans should be excited, though, for this mock draft by NFL Draft expert Field Yates, as he has LaNorris Sellers going higher than any other mock draft to this point.

Yates has Sellers going No. 2 overall to the New York Jets after they made a trade with the New York Giants for the pick. If the Jets are falling low enough to trade the No. 4 pick for the No. 2 pick, then it means their current quarterback, Justin Fields, isn't working out the way they had hoped he would. So the Jets could be in the market for a new quarterback come next season.

Sellers has been in the conversation as a top quarterback going in the NFL Draft, but he has usually been behind Arch Manning, Drew Nussmeier, and Cade Klubnik. Now he is above Nussmeier and Klubnik and going No. 2 overall in this mock draft, higher than anyone else has put him.

Being this high in Yate's mock draft can mean a few things. For one, it could mean the Jets want a true dual-threat quarterback, which with his size and running ability, Sellers is exactly that. Second, it could mean that Sellers is quietly moving up draft boards and will be able to back that with his play this season.

LaNorris Sellers has the chance to take South Carolina to the College Football Playoff this season

After falling just short last season of making it to the College Football Playoff after a magical run late in the year, South Carolina has a real shot at making it this season, even if others don't think they do. The key to making it to the CFP this season is simple.

LaNorris Sellers.

Sellers is truly the key to this offense going off this season and with how good South Carolina's defense can be, this team has a chance to be special, but it all starts with Sellers.
