There is no doubt in the minds of South Carolina fans that LaNorris Sellers is the best quarterback and the best player in college football. It seems that his play on Sunday against Virginia Tech is proving that as well, and others are starting to notice.
On3's Josh Pate joined the Pat McAfee show to talk college sports, and when the topic of South Carolina and Sellers came up, Pate was extremely complimentary of both the Gamecocks and their star quarterback. Sellers finished his day against the Hokies, going 12-for-19 with 209 passing yards, a passing touchdown, 25 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown.
"I know a lot of people are doing the NFL Draft talk, I stick to college football," Pate said. "I think he [LaNorris Sellers] can be the best player in college football."

South Carolina may have the best offensive and defensive players in the SEC" ~ @JoshPateCFB #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/NpdQqshEn6
Not only did Pate give Sellers a lot of praise, but the South Carolina team in general a whole lot of praise. Pate believes that this team has a serious chance to be in the College Football Playoff and be real contenders for the National Championship.
"They may have the best offensive and defensive players respectively in the SEC," Pate said.
That is a huge statement from Pate as the SEC is seen as the top conference in all of college football and if the Gamecocks can dominate in the conference, they have a real shot at that championship trophy.
Pat, of course, can't say that everything is totally sunshine and rainbows in South Carolina. The one downside to South Carolina is that head coach Shane Beamer didn't attack the transfer portal like other programs typically do in the spring, and so Sellers may not have the strongest supporting cast around him.
Right now, Nyck Harbor is looking like a scary threat in the open field, now that he has figured out how to secure the catch. His speed is unreal, and he and Sellers have a real connection on the field, but who else after that?
Sellers has a chance to make a difference this season, but he does need to make sure others step up and help offensively, simply to take the load off of him a little bit.
