If LaNorris Sellers doesn't get hurt against LSU then South Carolina is in the CFP

No one blames LaNorris Sellers, but if he doesn't get injured, this season could look very different.

It all comes down to an ankle, one stinking ankle.

South Carolina is 9-3 on the season and is currently just barely outside of the College Football Playoff, but is still in the mix to make it in. What infuriates Gamecocks fans right now though is that their team could be in the playoff right now if one thing had not happened that resulting in one loss this season.

Earlier in the season, South Carolina suffered their first loss of the season against LSU on a day when the Gamecocks hosted ESPN College Gameday. There are very few reasons South Carolina lost that game, but the biggest one is that they did not have quarterback LaNorris Sellers for the majority of the second half.

Sellers went down with an ankle injury in the first half and came out of halftime, played one drive, but was then out for the rest of the game. Sellers was the spark in the offense at that time that the Gamecocks needed to win that game and without him, they fell to the Tigers

If you turn that one loss into a win with Sellers playing that whole game, the Gamecocks are in the College Football Playoff right now. Even if South Carolina goes on to lose to Ole Miss and Alabama, the Gamecocks still only have two losses and would have even had a shot at the SEC Championship.

South Carolina walked away with a great win over No. 12 Clemson this weekend as they beat their fourth-ranked opponent this season. The fate of them being in the CFP is all left up to the committee now, but it is hard not to wonder where South Carolina would be right now had Sellers not gone down and the Gamecocks beat LSU early in the season.
