South Carolina is wasting no time going after elite future pass rushers, and on Friday the Gamecocks made that clear. The team offered Class of 2028 EDGE, Tyson Williams, from Shelby High School in North Carolina. After his performance at the Gamecock camp in Columbia, Coach Sterling Lucas, South Carolina's defensive ends and OLBs coach, extended the offer. And Williams took to social media, excited about the early offer from the Carolina staff.

Williams just wrapped up his freshman year...yes, freshman. At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, he has the frame and speed that coaches love in a young edge defender. Williams also plays tight end for Shelby, showing off his versatile athleticism. For the Gamecocks, he is being targeted as a future nightmare for opposing QBs.
Williams is highly explosive off the edge, with the footwork and pursuit speed that is rare for such a young athlete. He is still developing physically, growing is frame, but the foundation is absolutely there already. On film, Williams is explosive off the edge. He has already shown the ability to disrupt the run, and the hope is that once he gets into a college strength program, he will become everything the Gamecock coaches see in him already.
Williams is the sixth Class of 2028 EDGE prospect to receive an offer from South Carolina, joining a small, but elite, class. He also has offers from Syracuse, East Carolina, and Garder-Webb.
