There is only one thing sweeter than beating your rival and taking away their chances at making the College Football Playoff.

Doing it on their own turf.

South Carolina went to Clemson and not only ruined their chances at making the College Football Playoff, but showed them who owned the state and, to the surprise of no one, it was the team that is actually named after the state.

Linebacker Debo Williams made his feelings known after the Gamecock defense sealed the win against the Clemson Tigers when they picked off Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik on a tipped pass to end the game.

The Palmetto Bowl was set in Clemson this year, and South Carolina came in as probably the hottest team in college football and was ready for anything Clemson had to throw at them. Funny enough, the Gamecocks didn't take their first lead in the game until about a minute left in the fourth quarter.

However, when the defense needed to step up the most, even though they let Clemson work their way down the field, they stood tall when they needed to and finished off the win for South Carolina to take home the Palmetto Bowl Trophy.

This was truly a battle throughout the entire game centered around the defenses as the game was knotted at seven at halftime, and Clemson was held to just seven more points in the second half while South Carolina was able to gut out 10 points to win the game.

Thanks to the heroics of quarterback LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive and well, and now it is in the hands of the committee.
