The South Carolina Gamecocks are gearing up to dress and impress for one of their biggest recruiting visits of the summer. Landon Duckworth, a four-star signal caller in the 2026 class is preparing to make an official visit to Columbia this weekend.
Duckworth, who is fresh off a visit to Auburn, was previously committed to South Carolina before backing off of his pledge to the Gamecocks last June. Since then, Ole Miss seemed to have been leading the recruitment, but Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks have a chance to make an impression with a strong showing this upcoming weekend.
The 6-foot-3, dual-threat quarterback is ranked as the No. 51 overall player in the country, the No. 6 quarterback, and the No. 5 player in Alabama, according to 247Sports. Duckworth recently narrowed his top schools down to South Carolina, North Carolina, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Florida State. And while he has not officially announced a commitment date, the door is open for a decision to come at any time, making this visit to Columbia even more important.
The Gamecocks are looking to build and create momentum for this season and next. South Carolina's 2026 recruiting class currently features a strong foundation of talent with five commits, including cornerback J'Zavien Currence, offensive lineman Zyon Guiles, edge rusher Keenan Britt, tight end Jamel Howse, and interior offensive lineman Anthony Baxter. Adding a star quarterback like Duckworth would be a massive win for South Carolina's coaching staff and the future of the program.
