South Carolina continues reshaping its roster through the transfer portal, landing its first offensive line commitment of the cycle with the addition of a veteran UCF transfer. The move signals a clear emphasis on rebuilding the trenches as the Gamecocks address one of their most pressing needs following a 4–8 season. Carter Miller, a 6-foot-2, 295-pound veteran interior offensive lineman from UCF visited campus on Sunday before announcing his commitment on Tuesday. Miller brings experience to a Gamecock offense that struggled with consistency up front and is looking to build more punch in the trenches.
What Miller Brings to Columbia
Miller began his collegiate career at James Madison before moving to Louisiana-Monroe, where he started every game for the 2024 season. He most recently logged nine starts at UCF before an injury cut his season short.
Across 36 total games and 29 starts, Miller has shown versatility and reliability, which is a critical factor for South Carolina as it navigates massive turnover on its offensive front. He is expected to compete immediately for snaps at center and guard in 2026, helping the Gamecocks shore up interior protection and run blocking.
Transfer Portal Remains a Priority for South Carolina
This marks the third addition from the Transfer Portal for South Carolina this offseason, joining wide receiver Jayden Gibson and defensive tackle Jordan Thomas. Head coach Shane Beamer and the coaching staff are looking to aggressively reshape the roster in pursuit of becoming competitive in the SEC again.
Miller's experience could pay dividends in short order, especially in clos-quarters situations where the interior strength can dictate offensive rhythm.
Stay tuned to Garnet & Cocky for more on how Miller and other transfers will fit into Shane Beamer's offensive line puzzle, and what other moves from the portal South Carolina will make before spring ball.
