The Seattle Seahawks may have missed the playoffs in 2024 despite a 10-win season, but they are betting on some new faces to push them over the top in 2025. And one of those faces is none other than former South Carolina standout Nick Emmanwori. The Gamecock star was selected 35th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he has already started making waves in the Pacific Northwest. Seahawks.com's senior reporter John Boyle recently answered a few questions from the teams' official mailbag, and Nick Emmanwori's name was mentioned as one of the most intriguing rookie contributors on the Seahawks' roster.
While the veteran safeties are expected to lead the way early in the season for the Seahawks, but Boyle stated with Emmanwori's versatility, size, and athleticism could make him a key piece for the squad. "We've already seen Emmanwori line up in multiple spots all over the defense," Boyle said. He also noted that Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald has a history of deploying three-safety sets, and Emmanwori fits that mold perfectly.
The Seahawks defense is known for its creativity, and the former Gamecock seems like a natural fit. Along with the addition of veteran pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence, Emmanwori will headline a revamped defensive unit that Seattle hopes will be enough to make a championship run.
As for Gamecock fans, it is no surprise to hear about Emmanwori's strength. His physical presence and knowledge on the field made him a cornerstone in Columbia, and now he has the chance to bring that same impact to the NFL.
