The South Carolina baseball team is continuing to load up through the transfer portal, and the latest addition is bringing speed and versatility to the outfield. Tyler Bak, a former Wofford standout, has officially committed to the Gamecocks, per the team's X account.

Bak spent the past two seasons with the Wofford Terriers, posting an impressive .311 batting average, .429 on-base percentage, and a .402 slugging. He showcased his hitting ability and on-base skills adding 15 stolen bases in just 17 attempts. Also, in over 45 starts at centerfield, Bak racked up 20 RBIs, two homeruns, 23 walks, and only 29 strikeouts across 189 appearances on the plate.

Bak is also versatile in the outfield and has experience at all three spots in the OF. While he primarily has been used at centerfield, he will be a flexible defensive option in Columbia. Bak has two years of eligibility left.

Bak is also reuniting with a familiar face, a former North Gwinnett High School teammate, who also committed to the Gamecocks during the offseason. With Bak addition, South Carolina now holds pledges from nine players out of the transfer portal. Here's a look at the 2025 transfer commitments:

  • Josh Gregoire, RHP – Louisiana-Monroe
  • Logan Sutter, 1B – Purdue
  • Cullen Horowicz, 2-way – Samford
  • Amp Phillips, RHP – USC Upstate
  • Elijah Foster, RHP – Sacred Heart
  • Josh Gunther, RHP – Wake Forest
  • Bradley Hodges, LHP – Virginia
  • Erik Parker, OF – Chipola College (via North Gwinnett HS)
  • Tyler Bak, OF – Wofford

With Bak's consistency at the plate, speed and familiarity with the SEC's level of toughness, he could find himself in the mix for a starting position. With this commitment, South Carolina shows that the program is pushing hard to build a well-rounded and competitive roster for next season.
