The summer temperatures across the country might be heating up, and the WNBA is getting hot right along with it. The league is currently in the heart of the WNBA's Commissioner's Cup tournament, and on Thursday night, the Indiana Fever improved to 7-5 with a 114-106 overtime victory over the Chicago Sky.
Two Fever teammates in guard Caitlan Clark and center and former South Carolina Gamecock Aliyah Boston casually made WNBA history with the victory. The two Indiana stars became the first-ever teammates in WNBA history to both score 30-point double-doubles in a single game.
Boston, who is entering her fourth season in the WNBA, led the way with 34 points, 12 rebounds and another three assists. She also made all six of her free throws in the win. Clark finished with another 32 points and 10 assist, adding seven rebounds in the win.

The win was not without drama. The Fever had a five-point lead with less than 20 seconds left in the fourth before Chicago's Skylar Diggins hit a long three to tie it at 98 and force overtime. In overtime, it was all Fever, as Indiana's defense held Chicago to shoot just 1-for-8 from the field in overtime.
“I don’t know if I can really put it in perspective in terms of quantifying it, and especially because they’re so young,” Fever head coach Stephanie White said after the game. “They’re so young. But, they’re elite at what they do. And the more experience that they get at this level and the different ways that people play us, like they’ve already grown.”
White is right on how young both stars are, and them reaching this milestone so early in their careers makes it even more impressive. Not to mention that Clark missed several games last season due to injiry, so we could just be seeing the start of what these two players can do together.
Clark added that on the court, it helps that she has more of a feel for where Boston is on the floor, entering her second season with Indiana.
“I feel like I always know where Aliyah is,” Clark said via WISHTV. “I think we’ve got a little telepathy now.”
With the loss, the Sky dropped to 4-9 on the season. Fellow Gamecock alumnus Kamila Cardoso was limited to just 10 points in the loss, with another four turnovers. She also didn't even get to play in overtime, fouling out with 3:40 left in the fourth quarter.
Next up for the Indiana Fever is a quick turnaround, as the team is traveling to play the Connecticut Sun on Saturday. The Sky play the New York Liberty at home next Wednesday. Indiana is now tied for third place in the Eastern Conference with the Toronto Tempo in the standings.
Congrats on the two Fever stars on etching their names into the WNBA record books, and getting a big overtime win!
