South Carolina is doing everything they can to get themselves into the College Football Playoff, which was something no one thought was possible back in the middle of November. The Gamecocks were 3-3 at one point in the season and any hope of making the CFP was long gone, but now fans have reasons to hope.

Riding a five-game win streak, South Carolina has done a lot, including three ranked wins over Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and Missouri. In the other two wins, the Gamecocks put beatdowns on Oklahoma, which happened to be the first time they ever faced the Sooners and FCS opponent Wofford.

While a lot still needs to happen for South Carolina to make the CFP, a good amount of chaos took place this weekend, including Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M all losing. This improved the Gamecock's chance at the playoff, but they still have work to do.

With the new 12-team playoff this season, a three-loss team has a very real chance of making the playoffs, but they need the resume to do so. ESPN released a playoff predictor with the newly formatted playoff, and right now, they are giving South Carolina a pretty good chance to slip in near the end.

The ESPN playoff predictor is currently giving the Gamecocks a 58% chance at making the playoff, but here is the catch, South Carolina has to beat Clemson this weekend.

The Gamecocks are set to head to Clemson this weekend in the annual Palmetto Bowl to see who owns the state, but this game means so much more right now. Both South Carolina and Clemson are fighting for playoff spots, and with the way the season is going, this game could result in the winner getting the final spot in the CFP.

South Carolina and Clemson will get their new rankings in this week's latest CFP rankings on Tuesday, November 26, at 8:00 p.m. EST.
