The South Carolina Gamecocks athletic department is stepping into a brand new era. As the calendar turns to the last day of June, the date officially marks the end of South Carolina athletics being sponsored for uniforms and apparel by Under Armour. The school will officially be a Nike school beginning on Wednesday, July 1.

Previously, South Carolina was outfitted as an Under Armour school dating back to 2007, and the school's deal with them was set to expire June 30 and was not renewed. The Gamecocks were one of the last SEC schools to be paired with Under Armour, as Auburn switched to Nike in July 2025. South Carolina gave a hat tip to the under Armour brand on the final day of June on social media:

Nike's new deal with South Carolina for all sports, which is good for the next 10 years, is reportedly worth $77.5 million across each year. Under Armour had the first right of refusal when the school was in negotiations with Nike, but it did not match the deal, officially marking the switch to Nike for the Gamecocks. From a report at the beginning of the 2025 college football season, Nike was the sponsor of 15 of the top 25 college football programs across the country.

With the Gamecocks making the switch, Nike has capitalized by teaming up with some big-time South Carolina players for NIL deals. South Carolina star quarterback LaNorris Sellers was among one of the first players to ink an NIL deal with the iconic shoe and apparel brand. His teammates, EDGE rusher Dylan Stewart and leading receiver Nyck Harbor also got deals with Nike from there.

While change is always bittersweet, South Carolina switching to Nike should benefit the athletics program in several ways, from recruiting to merchandise deals and overall brand marketing in pairing with the brand.
