Great news for Gamecock fans! Cam Scott is officially staying in Columbia. The former Lexington High School star has decided to remain with the South Carolina men's basketball program, a family source confirmed to The State Newspaper on Tuesday. Scott had entered the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier this month, but ultimately chose to stick with Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks.
“There’s no place like home,” the source told The State.
Scott also confirmed his official return on social media by posting on Instagram a photo of his No. 23 Gamecocks jersey hanging in his locker. The post was accompanied by Darude's "Sandstorm," which is an anthem very similar to Gamecock fans everywhere.
As a freshman, the 6-foot-6 guard averaged 2.3 points and ten minutes per game. He showcased his talent in South Carolina's SEC Tournament game against Arkansas with eight points and hit two threes on perfect shooting in the second half.
