Cam Scott is set to depart for South Carolina's men's basketball program and will enter the transfer portal. Initially reported by On3 Sports, this move comes as a surprise just weeks after Scott expressed his desire to continuing playing under head coach Lamont Paris.

Reflecting on his time with the team, Scott expressed gratitude following South Carolina's early exit from the SEC Tournament.

“I enjoyed every bit, every outcome, every situation I encountered,” Scott said. “I just wanted to be a big support for my guys, whether that’s on my floor, off the floor. Throughout the season, I feel like I was one of the more energetic guys, even when things weren’t going right, still trying to pick up people.”

Austin Herro, Arden Conyers, Zach Davis, Jamarii Thomas, and Nick Pringle are also expected to transfer from the Gamecocks. Meanwhile, the program will lose players to graduation: Jacobi Wright and Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk to graduation. Rising Junior foward Collin Murray-Boyles is also weighing his decision about entering the NBA Draft.

During his freshman year, Scott averaged 2.3 points over 10 minutes per game. He delivered his most impactful game by scoring eight points against Arkansas in the SEC Tournament with a perfect shooting in the second half.

As the Gamecocks look ahead to the 2025-26 season, the team's roster continues to be reshaped. Bringing in key transfers like Christ Essandoko, Treysen Eaglestaff, and bringing Meechie Johnson back, alongside a promising group of freshmen such as Eli Ellis, Grant Polk, EJ Walker, and Hayden Assemian, the Gamecocks will continue to evolve the team.
