Former Gamecock Bree Hall waived by Golden State Valkyries
Bree Hall's second stint with the Golden State Valkyries has come to an end. The former South Carolina guard was waived by the team after appearing in just one of two games since re-signing on August 27. The move clears a roster spot for forward Monique Billings, who is returning from injury. Hall was initially added as injury cover last month; however, she made minimal impact in her brief run with the team. This marked her second appearance with Golden State this season, after she made her WNBA debut earlier in June, scoring three points across two games.
Despite the setback, Hall's résumé still speaks for itself. A two-time national champion at South Carolina, she was drafted 20th overall in the second round by the Indiana Fever before landing with the Valkyries.
By the Numbers
- Drafted 20th overall by Indiana in 2024
- Two national championships at South Carolina
- Three points scored in two games with Golden State
What's Next
Hall will now look for her next opportunity within the WNBA or possibly overseas. Her college career under Dawn Staley proved her ability to contribute at a high level of competition, and her versatility on both ends of the floor could make her an appealing option for teams in need of roster depth.
Hall's release underscores the challenges young players face transitioning from the collegiate level to their professional careers. While her latest stint with Golden State was short-lived, her championship pedigree suggests her professional journey is far from over.
