Another former Gamecock star waived in WNBA roster shakeup

Former South Carolina women's basketball standout Bree Hall was waived by the Golden State Valkyries on Monday, just two weeks after joining the WNBA's newest franchise. Hall signed with the Valkyries on June 18 to help provide depth while several Golden State players were away for EuroBasket. With those players now returning to Golden State, the team had to clear some space on the roster, and unfortunately that meant moving on from Hall.

In her short stint with Golden State, Hall appeared in two games and made her presence known. She scored her first official WNBA points in her debut, and her second game came with a special moment. She got to play in front of her college coach, Dawn Staley.

During her time at South Carolina, Hall became known as " Big Shot Breezy" for her timely buckets and elite defense. She helped the Gamecocks win two national titles and make four consecutive Final Four appearances, including a starting role on the undefeated championship team in 2024.

Hall was selected 20th overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2025 WNBA Draft but was waived from that team as well after one preseason game where she dropped nine points against Brazil's national team.

She was the second Gamecock waived on Monday, joining Tiffany Mitchell, who was released by the Las Vegas Aces earlier in the day due to a roster move.

Hall's WNBA journey is just beginning, and Gamecock Nation will be rooting for her every step of the way.
