The Las Vegas Aces are going on the road to play the New York Liberty on Tuesday night, with a chance for the WNBA Commissioner's Cup crown on the line. Unfortunately for the Aces, the team was hit with some brutal injury news just hours before tip-off.

On Tuesday morning, Aces leading scorer A'ja Wilson was officially ruled out for the championship game of Commissioner's Cup against the Liberty. The team is officially ruling the reigning WNBA MVP out with a "right leg injury."

During Las Vegas' 107-99 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday, Wilson appeared to roll her ankle after reaching for a rebound. Although she went to the locker room briefly, she returned to the floor. She finished with 30 points and 15 rebounds during the Aces' 107-99 victory. After the game, she was asked about the status of her ankle, to which she said she would be OK after getting some treatment.

Previously, Wilson was listed as questionable against the Liberty. But it appears that even with one day of treatment, it's not enough for her to be good enough to go against the Liberty.

Missing games is not something Wilson is accustomed to. Throughout her seven seasons in the WNBA, Tuesday night's game will mark just the seventh game the Aces star has missed during her career.

The Liberty will also be without forward Satou Sabally, who is still in concussion protocol.

Wilson is both the Aces and the WNBA's leading scorer, putting up 25.7 points per game with another 9.4 boards per contest. She is also first in blocks per game, getting two a game.

Without their star, the Liberty will likely be heavily favored for the WBA Commissioner's Cup Championship. The winner gets a new trophy, as well as $500,000 to be split evenly amongst the team's winning players.

Hopefully the Aces' star can bounce back from this setback in no time. The good news for her is that the Aces don't play next until next Friday on July 3, taking on the Chicago Sky at 10 p.m. ET.
