The South Carolina Gamecocks are just weeks away from opening the 2026-27 season. Before Dawn Staley's team tips off against Maryland in Paris, France on Nov. 2, this is also a busy recruiting time for the Gamecocks.

Coach Staley's next target is five-star small forward Jordyn Palmer. She has announced that she will publicly make her commitment on Friday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. ET. Palmer, who is the nation's No. 6 overall player from the class of 2027, has South Carolina among her finalists. Her other final schools include the Ohio State Buckeyes, UCLA Bruins and Penn State Nittany Lions.

Palmer took an official visit to South Carolina on Sept. 18. The Gamecocks are hoping to go three-for-three on prospects that visited that weekend. Five-stars Jezelle "GG" Banks and Taylor Brown, who were with Palmer on that visit weekend, have also both committed to the Gamecocks.

Palmer visited South Carolina as the first of her official visits, wrapping up her ones with Ohio State, UCLA and Penn State on Oct. 9 The five-star is from Oxford, Penn., and plays high school basketball out of Westtown School. Her hometown is roughly 155 miles Southeast of Penn State's campus in State College.

Here's a look at Palmer's scouting report, via 247Sports:

Palmer was a member of the USA Basketball 17-and-Under team that won a gold medal at the FIBA World Cup. Her unique blend of size, skill, and patience on the basketball court is a recipe for success. She helped Philly Rise win the 16-and-Under division at the USA Basketball Open Championships to end July in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Palmer then made waves at the MADE Hoops Next Generation Camp the following week. As a result, she has established herself as one of the premier prospects in the country.

She is a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year. Per 247Sports, South Carolina's 2027 class ranks sixth in the nation, although it does not include Brown's commitment in the class just yet.

We'll see if Staley can keep the hot recruiting streak going to land Palmer to her 2027 class. She'll have to beat out the defending national champions UCLA to do so.
