The South Carolina Gamecocks are looking to keep the positive momentum going coming out of a bye last week. The Gamecocks will take on the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers at home this week. After the home game, South Carolina will travel to Norman, Okla. to take on the Oklahoma Sooners.
The SEC finally released a kick off time and TV network for the Week 9 slate of games, including the Gamecocks and Sooners' game. Per the conference's announcement, next Saturday's game will kick off at 4:15 p.m. ET and air live on SEC Network.

Elsewhere in the SEC that week, Auburn travels to Ole Miss at 12:45 p.m. ET, and Georgia and Florida will meet in Atlanta in 3:30 p.m. ET. In the night slate, Mississippi State plays at Texas at 7:30 p.m. ET, and Missouri takes on Arkansas on the road at 7:45 p.m. ET.
The Sooners are 3-3 on the season, coming off of a 21-13 loss at home to the Kentucky Wildcats. The Sooners have had a roller-coaster type season so far. Although Oklahoma was expected to be a College Football Playoff team this season like it was a year ago, the Sooners have three losses at the midway point of the year.
Oklahoma started 2-2 with losses to Michigan and Georgia, winning against UTEP and New Mexico. But in a surprise last week, the Sooners shocked the then-No. 1 Texas Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry and won 21-13.
Although games aren't won or lost by a single player, Sooner quarterback John Mateer has struggled all season. He's thrown for 1,308 yards with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions, and he's taken 16 sacks. Against Kentucky, he had his worst outing of the season, with three interceptions, as well as taking a season-high five sacks.
Oklahoma will look to rebound this week, taking on Mississippi State on the road. Depending on how Saturday's game goes for South Carolina against Tennessee, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if the Gamecocks are favored.
Oklahoma and South Carolina have played just two times in school history, with both meetings coming in the last two seasons. South Carolina won the first meeting in Norman 35-9, and the Sooners beat the Gamecocks in Columbia 26-7 last season.
South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer also has some familiarity with Oklahoma, as he was the associate head coach/tight ends coach for the Sooners from 2018-2020. From there, he accepted the head coaching job at South Carolina, where he's been ever since.
