South Carolina basketball coach Dawn Staley is among the best recruiters in all of college athletics. Coach Staley routinely reels in blue chip players to Columbia, and the Gamecocks roster has been among the most loaded in the nation over the last decade thanks to those recruiting efforts.
The USC 2024 recruiting class already has one elite prospect in the fold as 5-star guard Madisen McDaniel committed to South Carolina basketball back in August. McDaniel is the 12th-ranked recruit in the nation and was the first pledge in the ’24 cycle for the Gamecocks.
The second commitment could be coming later this week. Adhel Tac, a big-time 6’5″ center from Texas, put the Gamecocks in her top-4 in August, and this weekend, she announced that she was ready to make her commitment.
This Friday, October 27th will be decision day for Tac, who is the 33rd-ranked player in the country according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz Top-100. She will be deciding between South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisville, and Georgia.
Her high school teammate Taliyah Parker (4-star guard) will also decide this weekend, but the two players do not share any teams on their final lists.
Ranked 33rd in the nation, Tac is one of the highest-rated 4-star prospects in America. She was one of the fastest risers in the country between the end of her junior season and this summer, and another bump in the rankings would put her firmly in 5-star territory.
Tac is a force down low, gobbling up rebounds and utilizing her length to block or affect almost every opponent’s shot in the paint. She has a decent scoring touch near the basket and plays a similar style to current Gamecock star Kamilla Cardoso. With Cardoso in her final year of eligibility, Tac would make a nice replacement to the roster if she commits to the Gamecocks.
