South Carolina football fans have been sitting on the edge of their seats during fall camp, waiting to hear the latest injury updates to come from the program. The anxiety comes primarily due to the players who have been banged up this August.

Star receiver Antwane “Juice” Wells, 5-star freshman Nyckoles Harbor, starting tight end Trey Knox, and others have been at the forefront of all the injury talk in Columbia.

On Tuesday, just four days from kickoff, head coach Shane Beamer gave a bit of an injury update, and most of the news was positive for the garnet and black.

Juice Wells and Nyck Harbor, previously called “questionable,” were described as “good to go” for Saturday’s opener against North Carolina. Beamer went as far as to say that everyone on the team should “have no issues” other than the players with known long-term injuries and three questionable players.

The players mentioned as questionable by Beamer were tight end Connor Cox, linebacker Bam Martin-Scott, and defensive end Jatius “JT” Geer. Cox is a freshman who is probably fourth on the depth chart. Martin-Scott is a veteran but is a depth linebacker. Geer would be the biggest loss of the three if he is unable to go; he is expected to be a big part of the rotation on the EDGE for USC.

Trey Knox, along with linebackers Mo Kaba, Stone Blanton, and Pup Howard, have all been limited at times during fall camp. So were defensive end Tyreek Johnson, running back Juju McDowell, and a handful of defensive backs. However, according to Beamer’s latest update, it appears that there is nothing to worry about with those players’ availabilities this weekend.

Offensive tackle Jaylen Nichols and versatile offensive lineman Ryan Brubaker have undisclosed long-term injuries that will keep them out of action for the foreseeable future.

South Carolina football will open the season on Saturday, September 2nd against the North Carolina Tar Heels.
